"It's not in the best shape, but that's an original door," Mike says. "This one would be right behind the pilot. A guy had it, heard we were restoring this, and said, 'Here, I was going to throw this out.' So now we have an original pattern. These things come in here. I just bought three negatives on eBay of this airplane in North Africa. They were in a guy’s estate. I didn’t find it; somebody notified us. Negatives of a picture that was taken in, I think, late ’43, when it was just refitted as an XC-108 — what are the odds of that?"
